Select Find & Insert My Citation, enter a term/phrase in the search box.

Click EndNote 20 in ribbon, click Insert Citation.

In Word, place cursor in document where you want to add the in‐text citation.

METHOD 2 –Insert Citation with Find & Insert My Citation

At end of the paper, the reference(s) display for in‐text citation(s) in correct order specific to output style selected.

The in‐text citations display in the selected output style format.

Use the Insert Citation pull‐down menu and select Insert Selected Citation(s).

From the ribbon menu, select EndNote 20 tab.

In Word, place cursor in the text where you want to add the in‐text citation.

In EndNote highlight the reference that is to be cited.

Note: The pages field will only work with bibliographic styles that require page numbersĮdits are citation specific. The Edit Citation tab lets you edit the citation to Exclude author / year, Add Prefix, Suffix and page numbers In the lower part of the window the reference tab will let you see the details for that Endnote record so you can be sure that you are working with the correct referenceģ. The cursor in your document will jump to the position of that citation in the document. Select a citation from the list in the upper part of the window. Select the Edit & Manage Citations command.Ģ.

The correct way to edit citations is to run the Edit & manage citations command.ġ. If you try to delete text from the citation or type directly into it, those changes will disappear the next time the bibliography updates. Formatted citations contain hidden field codes indicated by gray shading.
